For some patients, swallowing tablets or capsules can be difficult. Orodispersible films (ODFs), also known as oral films, address these needs. These small, flexible sheets –dissolve quickly on the tongue, and deliver consistent doses without the need for water, offering a new alternative for children, the elderly, and those with swallowing challenges. 

FilmTec™ Technology

IBSA’s FilmTec™ Technology elevates oral film delivery through an advanced, scalable manufacturing process. The complex manufacturing process involves three key steps:

1. Formulation & Mixing – Ingredients and excipients are carefully blended into a uniform polymeric solution, ensuring stability and consistency.
2. Casting & Drying – The solution is evenly cast into ultra-thin layers and gently dried under controlled conditions to achieve the desired strength, flexibility, and dissolution profile.
3. Cutting & Packaging – The dried films are precisely cut into individual doses and sealed in protective packaging to maintain quality and stability until use.

At the core of FilmTec™ is maltodextrin, a safe, palatable, and rapidly dissolving polymer that ensures quick release, neutral taste, and reliable dosing.
